Treasures
This series was inspired by the treasures my little girl and I have been collecting for years. Pebbles, shells, beads, glass marbles, leaves, flowers, snails, pieces of wood… I wondered what makes the shape of a pebble appealing, what makes it special: a treasure. It certainly fits in my palm. Usually, its shape reminds me of something. I drew and painted these shapes a lot, trying to capture the essence of each quality. The shapes of leaves and flowers merge into each other as they become three, four, five, then six petals. It could be a flower, a leaf, a hand, a star, or a cloud. I tried to go back to the beginning. It was very interesting to read Csaba Varga’s linguistic books, in which he writes about the ancient roots found in language. These basic units make up words. It is similar to Plato’s ideatic theory, only the concepts are even more abstract. I also tried to grasp basic qualities and weave patterns from them.
